Bosko Video is proud to
announce the release of Volume Two of our
film
retrospective of that classic cat, Felix. Pat Sullivan's famous
cartoon
cat was
the animated king of the screen in the
1920's.
Our series
of these classic films are transferred at 18 frames per
second,
and are slightly window-boxed to prevent picture loss due
to
video
overscan. They are
duplicated at SP speed, in Hi-Fi stereo
sound,
and have a
custom score arranged and played by organist Dave Wickerham.
The music
score was recorded live in a theatre, in digital
stereo.
These
tapes are invaluable to colleges, universities, and film
students.
With the
ever-growing interest in animation and animation art
collecting,
this
historic film retrospective appeals to a large
audience.
We will be
releasing about fifty of these classic cartoons, most
of
which
haven't been seen as originally released almost seventy years
ago,
until
now!

REVIEWS:
Bosko
Video is well renowned for their beyond the call of
duty efforts
in archiving classic as well as rare animated
films. Dave Butler
has
done it
again with two volumes of "Presenting Felix The Cat". These
are
available
on VHS Hi-Fi stereo, digitally mastered, running about an
hour.
Butler has
even gone to the efforts of using a wet-gate machine,
the
optimum
way to transfer film.
The Felix cartoons are window framed
(black
borders on all four sides) so that you don't miss any of the
action. You can
miss as much as 12% of the video portion due to video
overscan.
With all of this effort, they surprised me by putting the same
effort
into the audio portion.
They actually had an accomplished
theatre
organist, Dave Wickerham, play the soundtrack live on
a classic Wurlitzer
organ in a
large 1929 movie palace.
The music itself is an absolute
knockout.
Volume Two
has nine cartoons, as does Volume One. Both have a
brief
history of
the Felix creators and their sad downfall after the
over-
whelming
popularity of Mickey Mouse.
If you bought the laserdisc,
you
didn't get
it all. These tapes are
a must-have for any real
animation
library.
